While student free speech groups have praised the provincial government for stepping in, others have questioned whether a campus free speech crisis exists at all.

When you feel threatened by police today, the promise of the next generation graduating from an improved school system doesn’t make you feel any safer. Demanding police revise their crowd-control training won’t help you while you’re being teargassed.
But until these things change, nothing will.
